Terms

The ground rules for using SpoilerGate.

Last updated: September 2026

By using SpoilerGate you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service. The product is provided for personal, non-commercial watch parties with people you choose to invite.

Access

Beta availability.

SpoilerGate is offered as a beta service. You may sign in with Google or join as a guest when creating or entering a room. The operator may limit, suspend, or revoke access if security, abuse, or fair use of the service requires it. There is no guarantee of continued availability or feature parity during beta.

Your content & takes

What you post in a room.

You retain rights to the text and reactions you post as takes. You grant us a limited license to store, display, and process that content solely to operate watch rooms for you and other invited participants — including spoiler gating, scoreboards, and share summaries. Do not post content you do not have the right to share.

YouTube dependency

Platform rules apply.

The service depends on YouTube for embedded playback and public metadata. Video availability, embed restrictions, and API behavior can change without notice. You remain responsible for complying with YouTube's Terms of Service and the rights of video creators. SpoilerGate is not affiliated with or endorsed by Google or YouTube.

Acceptable use

Keep watch parties safe.

Do not attempt to bypass authentication, scrape other users' private room data, abuse API quotas, or use the service to harass, threaten, or dox others. SpoilerGate is designed to reduce spoilers — do not use it to deliberately spoil content for participants who have not reached a timestamp, or to post unlawful, hateful, or sexually exploitative material.

Disclaimer

No warranty.

The service is provided “as is.” Spoiler gating is a best-effort feature, not a guarantee that no spoiler will ever reach you. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim liability for indirect or consequential damages arising from use of the service or from YouTube or infrastructure outages.

Changes

We'll date updates.

We may update these terms as the product evolves. The “Last updated” line above is the effective date. Continued use after a posted change constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. Questions: Impressum.
